Horse Abuse In The Name of Training

Here we go again. This time a mustang (wild horse) trainer who is apparently well known and respected feels it necessary to use aggressive training methods and can even be seen kicking this previously wild horse. What on earth does she think she is going to solve using these outdated methods of training? This is “natural horsemanship” gone bad and it happens to horses every day – abuse in the name of training.

I honestly do not understand why so many people in the horse industry can’t see that this is wrong, turn the other cheek or don’t look for a kinder, gentler way to train wild horses, or any horse for that matter. But so many horse owners give their horses up believing what they have been told – that this is the only way to gentle/train a mustang. It’s the “let’s teach him who is boss” mentality that churns out horses that are shut down, stressed and not enjoying their life at all.

I was reading something the other day regarding the term researchers call the fetal position. It means when you defend yourself or others from this unexplainable world you look like a baby. You say: ‘I believe you. You can feed me with words and I’ll accept what you say.’ This is the typical behavior for believers and followers of so-called horse trainers who use and promote these cruel and abusive methods.

Thank you to the lady who was brave enough to record this incident.  Video rights belong to her.
